Baptism

“…having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.” Colossians 2v12.

Baptism is an important faith declaration rich in historical importance. Jesus was baptized and taught that his followers should also be baptized. Baptism allows us to publicly declare our faith in Jesus and commit our lives to follow him wholeheartedly.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. A believer is put under the water, which is symbolic of the death to the old way of life, as Colossians states. We then rise out of the water, with Christ into the new way of living; a life lived for Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. As Paul writes, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6v3-5).

Our next baptism will be on Sunday April 7th, 10AM.
